In early 2013, Jeff Nathanson was hired to write a new script with Depp being involved in Nathanson's writing process. Pre-production for the film started in 2011 with Terry Rossio writing a script for the film. The film stars Johnny Depp ( Captain Jack Sparrow), Javier Bardem ( Captain Salazar), Brenton Thwaites ( Henry Turner), Kaya Scodelario ( Carina Smyth) and Geoffrey Rush ( Captain Hector Barbossa). Finally, Henry finds Jack, but is rather unimpressed by the drunk pirate. On his journey, almost a decade later, Henry is joined by a woman named Carina (Kaya Scodelario) who loves astronomy and is sure to remind us that she loves astronomy every chance she gets. But Henry believes Jack Sparrow can help, if he can find him, that is. Will doesn’t appear too hopeful, telling his son that finding the trident is impossible. In fact, finding the trident removes all curses of the ocean.

Before they part ways, though, Henry promises to find the trident of Poseidon, to free his father from the curse. The young boy finds his father, but can’t stay with him for too long due to the curse. Pirates 5 kicks off with Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites), Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann’s (Keira Knightley) son.
